About this place
All cave access is by ranger-guided tour from the visitor center. Some tours can be reserved on Recreation.gov; other tickets are sold first-come, first-served on the day, and NPS says they often sell out soon after the visitor center opens.
Note: the tourism board's 2026 closing-dates calendar lists Wind Cave tours as "Late Spring-Early Fall", but the NPS tour schedule lists tours through the winter. We follow the NPS, the park's own source.
NPS says the cave is a constant 54°F (12°C), and only credit/debit cards or digital payments are accepted for tours. The park surface is open 24 hours.

How we check
Open when the NPS guided-tours schedule has a dated block covering today that lists tour times. Partly open when a current NPS alert says some tour routes are closed but others remain available. Closed only on explicit wording that all tours are cancelled or closed. Anything else is Unknown. We check official sources about once a day; see our method.
